Disney has dropped the first trailer for its Star Wars bounty hunter spin-off, ‘The Mandalorian’ at the D23 expo.
Decapitated Storm Troopers, an ominous score and Carl Weathers. Yes please.
The Jon Faverau (Lion King, Iron Man) directed series will release at the launch of Disney+ in November.
It follows a lone bounty hunter following the collapse of the Empire in the outer reaches of the galaxy “far from the authority of the New Republic.”
Visually the trailer is striking. The CG environments have a cinema-like polish to them and the all black authority shown off in the trailer look menacing to boot.
We don’t get to hear the Mandalorian speak, but his guns do the talking. Using a blast door to slice a baddie is a death befitting Darth Maul himself.
Disney’s first steps as the custodians of Star Wars has divided fans, but this looks set to deliver in expanding the lore outside of the Skywalker story.
Aussies will have to wait a little longer to watch the Mandalorian, with Disney+ launching in Australian on November 19.
