We didn’t see it coming, but today Sony have announced they had ‘identified a path towards supporting cross-platform features’.
And what game would be supported first? Fortnite of course!
An open beta enabling PlayStation 4, Xbox, Nintendo, Android, iOS, Mac and PC players to all ‘floss’ dance together is available now.
Sony’s president, John Kodera, shared the details in a PlayStation blog.
“We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution,” said Kodera.
“We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective.”
Epic Games (Fortnite) has also hinted at a solution for those players who have created a second account to try and get around cross play restrictions… Time will tell.
