Let’s talk about the latest game in The Elder Scrolls series, Blades.
What is it?
“In The Elder Scrolls: Blades you are member of the ancient order of the Blades. Forced into exile, you seek refuge in your remote hometown only to find it reduced to rubble. Now, it’s up to you to restore your town back to its former glory.”
What to expect.
Bethesda says Blades will have “console-quality environments” and “real-time battles”, but I wouldn’t put money on it to match up to something like Skyrim.
It’s not an open world game, but seemingly had many different types of environments to explore.
In the main objective, players will need to build a town from ruins, which we also expect to have time based objectives. Unconfirmed, but it’s almost safe to assume it will have some sort of pay-to-play/micro-transaction system.
One gameplay mode that piqued my interest is an endless, repayable quest, named ‘Abyss’. Abyss will see players enter a dungeon, then each level down the enemies become harder and the loot will get shinier.
Another mobile based feature will be the ability to play Blades with one hand. One-handed-mode will allow players to turn their phones into portrait mode – perfect for that long drive to work?
Arena mode will see you face off one-on-one with real players around the world. It’ll be real time combat, slashing and blocking with a swipe of your finger.
Blades will be like no other Elder Scrolls game we’ve ever experienced – let’s call it a game-changer…
How can I play it?
Blades is heading to mobile, Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Priced at $0 – but expect micro-transactions.
You can pre-order on iTunes and GooglePlay now.
When is it coming out?
